and more prepping…

I haven’t put much up on the site lately, but work is progressing. The body is getting smoother every day and getting close to paint. The engine parts have all been cleaned, painted and all the new parts are in my possession now. I plan on reassembly of the engine after my trip to Italy in mid November. A few pictures of the progress.

More prepping of the body

This car appeared to have 3 different paint jobs, yellow (original), red (repaint) and black. It had never been taken down to bare metal only bondoed over. The rust was in damaged areas that were never fixed correctly. Like they say, paint can hide a multitude of sins. This car is on it’s way to being better than new.

Metal Work

The metal work is progressing, replacing any rusted areas with new metal. The metal work should be done this week then on to the body. I was in New Mexico this week collecting on a judgement. I got a Ferrari 275GTB/C. one of 12 alloy bodied competition models. Pristine condition with 12,000 original miles. Also a Porsche 917-30, P-51 airplane and an assortment of vintage motorcycles. I had Cavallo motorsports here in San Diego go to New Mexico to pick it up. All but the plane arrived last night.

The body leaving for paint.. what color??

The car left today for metal work, body and paint. The car is in Costa Mesa at a very small shop and will be there for the next 3 or 4 months. I still haven’t chosen a color and go back and forth on several colors. I did a spray out in Celeste and considered this because of it rarity on a Dino. It is similar to Azzuro except it has a touch of green and a little lighter. Also Viola and Grigio Ferro are considerations amongst some others. HELP!!!!

Checking the body out

Looks like I’m the same point as Tom C. The body is back from the blaster primed with DP90. It’s going to need a little metal work, but overall not bad. Also been stripping the fiberglass of all the undercoating. That’s the worst job of the whole project.
